8. Review of Reserve Contributions to National Defense, ASD (RA), January-December 2002
This Comprehensive Review of Reserve Forces, directed by the 2001 Quadrennial Defense Review, addresses how the contributions of the Guard and Reserve-in both new and traditional roles and missions-can enhance the capability of the Total Force. Its conclusions and recommendations will be valuable to the ongoing transformation efforts within the Department of Defense. The review was conducted at the direction of Dr. Paul Wolfowitz, Deputy Secretary of Defense and was chaired by Dr. David Chu, Under Secretary of Defense (Personnel and Readiness). SA worked as a member of the working group staff and participated in the analysis, synthesis, and integration of deliberations and research conducted as part of the Review. Primary focus was on assisting in writing and integrating interim and final reports of the Review and on assisting in the preparation of briefings and other presentation materials. The final report incorporated research inputs, data and findings, and conclusions and recommendations of the Review.
