Many technology programs are currently focused on processing large amounts of data into knowledge for the analyst/user via data fusion, fact extraction and analytics. The sole focus on technology solutions, however, may inadvertently push aside the human element necessary to achieve analytically sound and balanced products. Furthermore, given the nature of intelligence analysis including unpredictable challenges and rapid response times, the intelligence community may lack rapid access to essential in-house regional, cultural, linguistic, technical, or specialist expertise. SA has a standing Open Source Intelligence Service solution to complement these technology solutions throughout the open source information and knowledge supply chain. SA's Open Source Intelligence Service, focused on domains of interest to the Intelligence Community (e.g., improvised explosive devices, life sciences), bridges the gap between the open source information glut and the trove of subject matter expertise existing in the private sector, universities, and think tanks, by creating a mechanism to leverage outside expertise and knowledge.
