4. Assessment of Social Science Use in Joint Concept Development and Experimentation Office of Force Transformation (OFT), Final Report January 2006
SA conducted a study to assess how US Joint Forces Command integrates social sciences in concept development and experimentation. As part of the study, SA reviewed concept development and experimentation processes and the development, execution and analysis of key experiments. SA recommendations included: the need to evaluate whether social science content utilized in models and simulations is sufficient and appropriate for ensuring realistic representation of complex, dynamic and interrelated social science elements; development of a formal outreach program for identifying and engaging social science experts; and experimentation to evaluate whether processes such as Operational Net Assessment utilize the right social sciences and the most appropriate sources of social science expertise to enable successful Effects Based Operations.
