The Social Sciences and Cultural Assessments Program focuses on integrating social sciences into military operations and planning and enhancing warfighters' cultural understanding at the strategic through operational level. The program seeks to bridge the gap between academic, abstract concepts and operational requirements and spans solutions in the fields of training, technology, mathematical modeling and human effectiveness science. Recent and current program initiatives include cultural training assessments; integration of social sciences into modeling and simulation, performance criteria, and evaluation; cognitive, behavioral and physiological measurements for assessing cultural aptitude, culture shock, and decision-making ability; and perceptual learning for enhancing action- and intent- recognition.
